Lodging Options in Gilpin County Include Vacation Rentals and Casino Hotel Rooms

 

There is a surprising number of vacation rentals available in Gilpin County considering the county is home to only about 6,000 people. This is because of the area's natural beauty and gorgeous sunshine. More than three quarters of the county is national forest, national wilderness and state park so folks flock here to hike, mountain bike, rock climb, relax, breathe mountain air and more. Vacation rentals fill up in the summer so we recommend you reserve space as soon as you can. The only hotel accommodations in the county are at the casinos in Central City and Black Hawk in the southern end of the county. These are 9-10 miles from our home via a state highway, which is about a 20-minute drive.

 

The maximum speed limit in the county is 45 mph, and it is often lower than this around curves. It's best to think of driving time versus miles.

There are hotels down the mountain from our place. The three closest communities are Golden, Arvada and Boulder. If you plan to stay down the mountain, note access to our home is via one of several canyons. It will take about an hour to drive to our home from any of these communities. There is no public transportation to Gilpin County so you will need to drive.
